Ocean Beach Kiwi Surf Life Saving Club has been patrolling Ocean Beach since 1965. It provides a summer weekend surf patrol from November to March. During this time lifeguards patrol the beach from 12.00 - 5.30pm and on Sunday 10.30am - 4.30pm. Patrols start in November and finish in March.
Ocean Beach, is an easy drive from Napier and Hastings and is becoming Hawke's Bay's most popular beach, attracting large crowds of beach goers during the summer months.
Being an exposed surf beach it can at times become very dangerous, so a strong Surf Club with a healthy membership is therefore essential to ensure the safety of all.
